Charles Balmat

Charles Balmat, born January 12, 1903 in Chamonix, was a high mountain guide. He is one of the descendants of Jacques Balmat, known as "Balmat du Mont-Blanc", born in 1762 in the Chamonix valley in the village of Pélerins and died in September 1834 in the valley of Sixt, who was a chamois hunter, crystal maker and guide who succeeded in the first ascent of Mont Blanc (4,808 meters) in the company of Doctor Paccard, on August 8, 1786. Charles Balmat will be technical adviser to the Paramount team in Hollywood for the filming of the film "La Neige En Deuil" by Edward Dmytryk, released in 1956. He died on March 21, 1983.
